Football Legends Charity Extravaganza at The Horseshoes
On Sat 30th & Sun 31st May, we held our two biggest charity fundraisers to date.
We are working with the incredible charity DEBRA UK. DEBRA are the UK’s support network for people living with EB which is short for Epidermolysis Bullosa.
EB is a group of rare and incredibly painful genetic skin conditions that cause the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. With skin as fragile as a butterfly’s wings, EB is often referred to as ‘butterfly skin’. It is genuinely one of the most horrendous conditions you can imagine.
On Sat 30th May we held a charity dinner and auction at the Horseshoes. Our special guests and speakers were DEBRA President and football icon Graeme Souness and Southampton and England legend Matt Le Tissier. Other guests on the day included ex-Premier League referee Graham Scott, football legends Dean Windass, Carlton Palmer, Gavin Johnson, Carlos Edwards and Soccer AM legend Fenners.
On Sunday 31st May we held a Legends charity football tournament at Oxford City FC. Over 1300 fans crammed into the M-Group Stadium to watch their heroes play. Legends included an Oxford Utd Legends XI, Wes Brown, Dean Windass, Carlton Palmer, Gavin Johnson, Carlos Edwards, Dean Saunders, Tubes from Soccer AM, John Durnin, Mark Wright, Ron Atkinson, Denis Smith, Matt Taylor, Paul Byrne, David Howells, Garry Parker, David Thompson and of course Graeme Souness.
Both days were absolutely incredible and the public support for both events and the charity was quite humbling. Over £35,000 was raised for DEBRA.
Thanks to every single person who supported these events, donated, sponsored, attended, volunteered or just spread the word for this incredible charity!!
